LOST PONIES

Lost Ponies is a sister project of Wild Hearts it represents the sad possibility of our rare native breed horses and ponies leaving only an imprint of their spirit on our vast landscape long after they are gone.

Using movement and my photo-encaustic technique allowed me to create ghost-like photographs of some of our rarest native breeds. I have chosen to encapsulate my fine art prints with beeswax as the texture and refracted light of each photo-encaustic piece has an ethereal feel, which for me was an important part of creating this body of work.

I first create a photo-encaustic print and then the work is re-photographed, manipulated using digital darkroom techniques and then hand-printed onto beautiful printing papers, which adds another level of depth to my photographic work.
