This work starts life as a Photo-encaustic print and then the work is re-photographed, manipulated using digital darkroom techniques and then hand-printed onto beautiful printing papers, which adds another level of depth to my photographic work.

This particular collection Lost Ponies is inspired by my Wild Hearts project about equine native rare breeds. Using movement and my photo-encaustic technique allowed me to create ghost-like photographs of some of our rarest native breeds. It represents the sad possibility of these horses and ponies leaving only an imprint of their spirit on our vast landscape long after they are gone.
